I hijack this post in the name of the People's Army of Being Totally Insane
just because it gives us sad individuals a spurious sense of Machismo in the
name of Allah, lots of non-existent Virgins and because my home-life
consists solely of reading Islamic tetxs and masturbating over 'naughty'
Western underwear-adverts Guerrilla Force of Akhu-Icky-Stinky-Poo-Poo
of the Mahdi's Blessed Vision of the 19th of Ramadan'.

Basically, you've already got the answer right: you somehow 'feel' it's
either wrong or not. Now, why should that be?
It's because, I assume, you can distinguish between pure 'number'
and amount [or quantity]. I'm not good enough at Maths [and I doubt
either of us would understand the explanation anyway], but if I give a few
examples hopefully you'll further get the drift.

There are no fewer than a thousand lizards here;
there are fewer than a thousand lizards here;
You have ?100; I have less than that amount in total but you apparently
have fewer large-denomination banknotes than I;
my pay is less than yours but then I have fewer children to support.
