I am thinking of abandoning Vista and going to an Apple notebook. Has anyone got any information?

Re: Apple
The thing about Apple is that they're master designers of user interaction. Aside from their commitment to aesthetic beauty, they believe that everything you do with your computer should be as easy as possible. I had a Powerbook and it was great. The new Mac OS is coming out next week:

And you can run Windows on it if you want:

Re: Apple
If your prepared to pay the ransom Apple are asking then Mac everytime
Having said that if you have specific needs then do your research
Macs are more reliable/stable but their not perfect
This article from 2004 pretty much sums up my thoughts on the Mac v PC saga which seems to have no end in sight

Re: Apple
I've got a brand new Apple Macbook Pro and a Dell Windows XP laptop (the one i look at sites like this on!).
I would recommend the switch to Apple soon as the money comes through because the benefits are huge. As andy said the design for users is second to none...small features like the magnetised battery cable so that its anti-trip, the light sensitive keyboards etc.
Just really nice concepts not to mention the fact that I can run Photoshop, Indesign, Flash, dreamweaver and other progs all at the same time and it just loads. It's as simple as that, working in Photoshop is amazing because it just loads. every time. No delays, no pausing, no crashing.
It's the same with the rest of it, beautiful and efficient. Mine had a freak occurance of actually breaking within two months in that it would close progs as soon as i opened them. It turned out to be corrupted 1MB of hard drive............major problem ud think with windows....They reformatted the hard drive and reinstalled OSX, returned it to me and it still had my files on it - now thats impressive! You wouldn't get that with windows hehe
On the downside, if you ever decided to look at porn on it....you don't feel dirty - you just feel guilty

Re: Apple
I've no experience with accessing the net via a mobile phone Mike, so I couldn't even comment on doing this with a windows os. As for the creative parts like touching up photos and editing films - well, that's what apples are all about. I dunno if it's still true, but I'd guess 90% of magazine covers you see in the newsagents were put together on a mac. The software is expensive though, so check out apples website for prices before deciding.
As for speed; the pc rules when it comes to processing power, though it has to be said that now macs are using intel chips it'll not be long I feel before they catch up. For gaming i'd go with a pc, but lesser power on a mac doesn't mean photoshop will run slower because photoshop was specifically designed for macs, an windows versions are just botch jobs (well it used to be that way).
It all goes on personal choice Mike. The editing and photoshop work will be a breeze, as will sorting the audio and uploading files. I don't know how you connect your phone to your pc (firewire/usb/wi-fi?) but check the net regarding your phone for apple drivers, and if they're needed.
If you've got a full copy of XP, I'd have reverted back to that OS until 2009 when -fingers crossed- Microsoft's new OS will be out, but if you want something that won't give you issues, and you don't mind spending a little more money than you normally would on a pc and software, then macs won't let you down.
