Zoos of yesteryear were cruel, even Regent Zoo was cruel.
Nowadays, awareness is paramount and these zoos are a necessity for the public's awareness and to ensure many species do live longer and don't become extinct.
Sea Zoos on the other hand with performing dolphins and whales.........VERY cruel!!

Damn shame. Every time I picked up the Tamworth Herald she seemed to be in it, posing with a monkey and a bunch of schoolkids (I think - it could be just a bunch of chimps after seeing some of the knuckle-dragging kids round here).
