Magoo, I'm going to shock you - I've heard of these popsters.

IMHO the whole Rio album was quite good.
Back then I really liked "Hungry like the wolf", though now I would say it was very much of it's time.
The Girls on Film video was not bad :-).

I couldn't stand them. Way to saccharine for me, then or now.

Anyway, I was more a Eurythmics man...

Duran Duran: not shite at all, a decent back catalogue, Rio's a good album, and some great singles. Spandau Ballet were good up to the True album, and then very formularic after then.
Cannot argue with Girls On Film or Chant No.1, 2 of the greatest 80's pop singles

They're locking them up today, they're throwing away the key...I wonder who it be tomorrow, you or me?

Lets us not forget a lot of them were just used & abused by the record companies

I don't blame any of them for taking their chance to make it big
but Nostalgia tours seem to be the new cash cow of the 21st century

Countdown in OZ have done several

Their 'best of' is ok to dip into for a party. Got Rio on vinyl- most people probably have!!

They're a band that I'm either in the mood for or not.

Mid-tier New Romantics, IMO.

They were largely shite, but more importantly they were nowhere near as hip as all those sad thirtysomething media-types trying to rewrite pop culture will have you believe.

Who cares what anyone thinks about Duran Duran. They made a lot of money, shagged a lot of birds, had a good quality life, live in big houses, drive flash cars, snorted plenty of drigs and had a lot of money left in change.

If it makes you happy saying they are shit. Fine. I dont think they read this forum to be bothered anyway.

So bellyache away to your content...PLAYER HATERS!!!!!!

If I ever sink to the depths of hating THEM I'll post an article here

All that aside being successful doesn't make their music any better/worse

If we're talking success then Abba & the spice girls are the creme da la creme of music...god help us all
