Barry Hines, the author, was a teacher at my school for a while. Anyone who ever had a PE/Football lesson with Mr Hallam will know exactly where he got the inspiration for the Mr Sugden (Brian Glover) character.

So basically my PE teacher was the guy from Kes!

Brian glover is (as ever) fantastic as Mr Sugden!!

All though his performance has left me with a deep seated fear of PE teachers!! I bet you made a piont of NEVER forgetting your kit with him,eh Peter?

Oh, yes, selecting a kit from the box of unwashed 'left behinds' was the ultimate embarassment!
