I bought mine the other day from a British Legion poppy seller !thumbsup!

I do this every year - and I'm NOT ashamed to wear my poppy with pride.

There not just immaculate in terms of how they are kept Ace the respect people have for them is amazing.

Places of quiet contemplation and not a place for kids to hang out and leave their empty cans and chip papers after a night out like they are here.

I am delighted to say the two scumbags who defaced our memorial were caught and made to clean graffiti as a punishment.

Their mummy and daddy wouldn't let them have their pictures taken while doing the cleaning (couldn't have the little angels be hated by the majority of the community could we) but hopefully news that they have will discourage other idiots.

Violating their 'Human Rights' fiasco I expect......totally ignoring the fact these brave men died so the next generations HAD human rights

Yes we could, and indeed we should. It?s the likely contempt and opprobrium of our peers that inhibits us from doing shitty things. If scumbags and wasters are respected and shielded from scorn (and indeed extra judicial kicking?s) then there is little incentive for them to up their game and behave in a civilized fashion. This is one of the major problems in society at the moment and it manifests itself in the upsurge of anti social behavior and low-level disorder. This is because the scum of our society no longer fear anybody or anything. They?re not bothered about the Old Bill (they?ve got rights, innit?). They?re not bothered about public spirited citizens giving them a well deserved kicking, because nowadays the good guys will get dobbed by the Old Bill ? unlike in days of yor when they would have been given a nod and a wink by the local constabulary.

Respecting the rights of everyone, even scumbags (who would then magically become model citizens) was a fine sounding bit of 1960?s progressiveness. Sadly, it has become more than clear that the reality is, once a scumbag, always a scumbag, and if scumbags are not properly suppressed they will drag the rest of society down to their level.

As the son of an RAF serviceman who did 25 yrs (1955 - 1980) I always buy mine and wear it with pride and always go to the local ceremony on 11th Nov.

The saddest bit is that about 6 yrs ago I went to Oosterbeek cemetary (Arnhem 1944) and took a photo of the cross that is there, founed out my dad had taken the same photo 30 years before - how eerie is that ?.

7 and half hours ago 3 teenage lads knocked over crash barriers into the road.

An elderly lady had a go at them in probably the nicest way she could on the lines of "wasn't that a silly thing to do lads"

Their response was fuck off bitch etc.

My response was to grab the nearest by the throat pin him against the wall and ask if he and his friends were big enough to use the same language to me.

In fairness to them they did so I informed the little runts that they will not be tolerated and that I would call the Police.

The response was get them we don't give a fuck.

While considering my options an elderly man said leave them son you'll end up in more trouble than they will.

If you seriously think people gave their lives knowing that in future the type of society we have now would exist you're very much mistaken.
