There was I thinking teaching english overseas would be a good thing to do...religious nutters

A British schoolteacher has been arrested in Sudan accused of insulting Islam's Prophet, after she allowed her pupils to name a teddy bear Muhammad.
Colleagues of Gillian Gibbons, 54, from Liverpool, said she made an "innocent mistake" by letting the six and seven-year-olds choose the name.

Once again the victimhood status and over sensitivity that many Muslims wrap themselves with has undone any positive work done by those who dispair of ever dragging their benighted religion from the 14th century into the 21st. However, I am surprised the charity for which she was working didn't give her the background knowledge about potential pitfalls which local acute sensitivities might accidentally cause her grief with. Required, to be teaching in such a place, I would have thought. I have no doubt that had the children asked for the bear to be called Jesus, some alarm bells might just have rung.
