That must have been hard, making one of your posts without any reference to Pink Floyd's possible bipolar syndrome. Anyway 'Olay, how's it going? I thought you might indulge us when we were discussing you, but no, for some reason you were absent. Strange that.

Squabbling's has two bb's in it, God! I sound like WZR, must stop, alright then, squabling, yeah! that sound's right.

Quoting Sigmund Freud as well, don't tell me which web-site you've been scanning, let me guess, could it be this one per chance:

To some people following a TV serial is intellectually challenging and extremely useful for socialising.

No thanks, this board is for frivilous unchallenging nonsense

If I wanted to discuss serious intellectual topics I'd be on a forum relating specifically to that topic, not on some o/t porn forum

The problem for Floyd---as with that other middle class prog band Genesis--- was the inbuilt English reserve. Gilmour, Mason and Wright all referred to it, with one of them saying things with Syd were so bad "they almost said something." Summed up best by Waters' lyric "hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way . . . "

This was a generation that didn't like speaking about feelings, and the differences were left to fester into an open wound of resentment and, in Waters' case, bitterness and egotism.

The remarkable thing about the band, and the programme, is how much influence Syd Barrett continued to have long after he'd gone. Guilt played a major part of that, no doubt, but it was more than just that. And Wright for one seems certain that Syd's problems were drug-fuelled rather than inherently psychological.

Anyway, excellent programme.

Don't be so harsh olay; he was having a laugh.

Regarding your posts: I don't think you really discuss the topics you're interested in. You merely state a few facts, or give an opinion, and then that's it. It's not really a discussion.

As for Freud: 90% of his diagnoses were based around a secret disire of screwing your mother, and being sexually jealous of your father as a child (or the reverse as a girl). I think he was diagnosing himself and relaying it onto his patients (if they refused his diagnosis, he used to say they weren't cured until they admitted it; this is called 'brainwashing').

The only fault with the Waters v Gilmour argument is that Waters was trying to get rid of everyone else, and Gilmour was seeking a return to the collaboration of the Dark Side and pre-Dark Side group.

Waters is a bright chap---exactly the sort of Guardian-reading lefty that Dibble would despise---but he doesn't come across as a particularly trustworthy chum.

I'm no great reader of body language, but even I could tell at Live 8 that he was trying to be everyone's pal and the others, and DG in particular, were very wary.

I noticed that as well, especially Gilmours 'forced smile' when Rog put his arm round him at the end.
