C 120 TAPES.
C 120 TAPES.
Who Recalls these?in 1976,77 i had a batch of these but they used to stop without warning at times.
Re: C 120 TAPES.
C30, C60, C90 Go ! There was just too much tape on C120s wasn't there ? Prob affected the tension and carriage hence the stoppages.
Re: C 120 TAPES.
C90's were the best. 45 minutes of recording on each side. C120's were just too big for their purpose.
Re: C 120 TAPES.
Backing was thinner and maybe magnetic coating too. Hence more likely to slip or get chewed particularly in the car. They increased wear on cassette player take-up spool clutch too.

Re: C 120 TAPES.
Its more to do with the difference between the cheap quality tapes you bought steve56
I can recall the top range compared to the bottom being 1 tape for the price of anywhere from 3-6
If you play any tape constantly(everyday)its going to wear out eventually
Smart people bought a quality tape and used the cheaper bargain tapes to make copies as needed

Wasn't there also C 180's? Didn't they have silver tape instead of the usual brown?

Yes, the SAs recommended using the "chrome" setting on your machine even though they weren't actually chrome.
When TDK introduced the 100min tapes it was close to being the best invention ever
