Amusing story about Donovan.
I went to the Bath festival in 1970 (Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd etc)
The stage was not the huge sets we have nowadays, it was small and had no cover (or very little cover).
Saturday afternoon and a few groups came on, but then it started to rain.
With electric guitars and electric microphones many groups refused to go on. The stage remained empty for ages while the DJ played music, but then the audience started to get restless.
Then there was an announcement that Donovan (who was not even due to appear) had agreed to play. Huge cheers from the audience.
He sang a few songs, and went off to cheers of "Good old Donovan"
The organizers were desperate, so announced Donovan was coming back on again.
Polite applause and he sang he few more songs. He went off to muted cheers of "Thanks Donovan".
Still more rain, so they announced Donovan was coming back on.
By now we were geting fed up with Donovan and wanted Pink Floyd or Led Zeppelin on.
On Donovan comes again, but he has run out of famous songs to sing. He sings more and more songs till we are fed up with him. He goes off stage to "Fuck off Donovan"
I went to bed and never saw Led Zeppelin, but woke a 4am to the sounds of Pink Floyd drifting across the fields.

He made a splendid contribution to Alice Cooper's song Billion Dollar Babies.

I think he's a better singer than Dylan. Smoother.

You're trying to set Wazza off, aren't you.
Donovan had some good stuff, but on the whole was wetter than a whale's willie.
