The Banana Splits

Post by Steve R »

No, not the delicious dessert, but the children's TV show from the late 1960s.

It turns out that the characters were actually just actors in fleecy costumes.

Damn you! you've just ruined my childhood...wanders off in a huff.
Is nothing sacred now, next thing you'll be saying that one of the 'Splits' is really Billy Piper.

I'm afraid you're confused - the Munch Bunch hadn't even been dreamt of back then.

My favourite was Bingo, I suppose because he was so big and cuddly.

However, I will not deny a certain admiration on my part for the common-sense leadership qualities of Fleegle, which displayed, according to many, a maturity beyond my years.

Did you know Fleegle's voice was the same that did Dick Dastadly and Mutley?

Well, of course not, Ace!

I, naturally, assumed that Fleegle's voice was his own.

This business about the actors and fleecy costumes has come as something of a bombshell.
