Some pubs weren't big enough for separate rooms, leaving the non-smokers either to be poisoned, or have no social life whatsoever.

Imagine drunk drivers saying: "Well if you don't like my driving, stay off the fucking roads!"

I bet passive smoking has killed more people than drunk driving.

Remember how we laugh at the Victorians putting arsenic behind wallpaper, and not that long ago putting lead into paints for babies cots & cradles? Well, in 20 years time it will be the same when looking back on the generations that allowed smokers to poison the general public.

If passive smoking doesn't kill, then you have to say that smoking directly doesn't either.

Bullets kill by entering the body at a high velocity, tearing vital organs and arteries apart. Smoking kills through continued intake of said chemicals through the airways. Blowing your smoke away from somebody in an enclosed environment only delays that intake slightly as all air in rooms circulate. Add in 40 smokers to that room and I think you'll agree that your analogy doesn't really work.

It also happens to be true, like it or not.

The actual evidence for "the dangers of passive smoking" approaches zero, which, incidentally, makes it only slightly less scientifically sound than the "Theory" of Evolution.

I currently favour a new theory of my own - "Unintelligent Design".

i'm having a crack at quitting. so far it's cost me a damn site more than my beloved tabs. bloody inhaler ain't worth a dump, chewing gum works for 20 seconds, the patches keep falling off and as for cold turkey? not likely. i'd tear somebodys throat out inside a day!
help me please...

btw, nobody ever got hurt 'cos i was smoke-driving and i never came home and gave my missus a beating 'cos i'd had a night on the regal king size.

by all means ban smoking but when will it be alcohol's turn? and don't give me all that socially acceptable crap. the world would be a nicer, safer and all round better place without alcohol
