The Flashman books were a lot of fun. The one that was filmed, with Malcolm McDowell as our hero and Oliver Reed as Bismarck, was a spoof of The Prisoner Of Zenda. I loved the way GMF worked in almost every famous person of the 19th century.

Didn't the BBC make a Flashman series in the 70's?

I just recall the Beeb doing Tom Brown's Schooldays, from the Thomas Hughes novel where the original Flashman appeared. Wonderfully spoofed by Palin and Jones (with Ian Ogilvy as "School Bully") in Tompkinson's Schooldays from Ripping Yarns.

Cheers, Steve, I was struggling to remember his name. Knew it was Richard, but the rest wouldn't come.

As a quick trivia question, which drama saw Flashman, Doctor Who, Marvin The Paranoid Android, Bomber from Auf Wiedersehn Pet and Doyle from The Professionals at the South Pole?
