Another Hollies video

He ain't heavy he's my brother

It is a shame the Hollies have not got a better reputation, they put out same great singles.

Other 60s groups like the Kinks, Who etc are well remembered but the Hollies almost forgotten.

Hey SL

I love The Hollies and this is one of my faves ta boot. All though "Long cool woman" is probably my favourite. Did CCR first record that btw anyone? These two tracks along with "He aint heavy", have gotta be about the best of the post Nash line up.

When people talk about "The British invasion" it is often over looked that The Hollies were in fact the second biggest selling group after The Beatles (The Rolling Stones being a lowly fourth if memory serves) over the pond.

I bought the best of CD a little while ago and the body of great stuff on it is frankly stunning. Especially given how forgotten they seem to be now. The only thing I will say bad about them is,many of their biggest hits during the sixties were in fact penned by other people. For instance one of their best tunes (imvho) is "Bus stop" written by Graham whats his face from 10cc,and not forgetting all the Bob Dylan covers their churned out.

Still one of the great British bands of all time and no mistake. Oh and still touring....well kinda. I think the drummer is the only original member of the line up.

Cheers

BB

Love the hollies still have most of their records on 45's. But increasingly puzzled by a young un like ShelleyLouise's posts about 60's music. Grumpy Old Men like me usually get a groan when we talk about the golden years as I like to think of them.

Good music is good music, whatever the era. You don't have to be from the 18th century to appreciate Bach or Vivaldi.
