TV's start to '08: the darts!!!

Post by fudgeflaps »

Hey mad OT peepers, you are behaving so well so far! I'm impressed.

So, what are you thinking of the darts on the beeb? I know there will be grumbles of 'it's not a real sport anyway', and a few jibes about the physical state of the 'sportsmen'.............

.......but, on it's day, it can provide some top dramatic moments: the finishes, deciders....... good telly, IMO.

What do you lot think? Would you like to see Ted 'The Count' Hankey renamed 'The Cunt'?? Do you think the players would be great on 'Young Tarts, Old Farts', showing Hexy double-top before going for bullseye? Crap pub sport?

Or actually pretty good? There are rare sightings of reasonably fit birds in the audience at times............

!wink!

So, what's your take? !hmmm!

Sky's coverage- and even the ITV Grand Slam- makes the BBC event look tame. A new stage set has been introduced this year to bridge the gap.

Compare the first World final between Leighton Rees and John Lowe in 1978 with the Sky events- a completely different universe.

I got quite emotional when Wolfie was in tears after the Nixon match-up, I've seen Tony Adams play in actualality, very gid player, gutted about Gary Anderson losing aswell.

Televising angling would be a step up in the sporting entertainment stakes, Buttsie---as would the British Paint Drying Championships.

The only thing worse than darts are the blinged-up-to-the-max types that go along to watch it.

Oh, you mean the gargantuan vats of lard that slop around on the stage?

The new stage is awful though, way too garrish, gives me a headache just looking at it.
