Mid life crises

Post by Pervert »

I've noticed a rise in the amount of middle-aged guys dying in motorcycle accidents, like this one:

biker

It seems to be becoming de rigeur for blokes of a certain age to get powerful bikes in a bid to recapture their youth. I'd probably do so, but the dealer I spoke to couldn't get one with stabilisers.

There's nothing to suggest this wasn't more than just a tragic accident (perhaps due to frost or ice on the road), but the fact remains that this kind of thing is happening more and more (or perhaps I'm just noticing it now).

Maybe it's just Scotland...last time I was up in the borders I was nearly run over by a 40 year old on a big Dacati.

The number plate was WA55A-01

I bet he's a right tosser.

I used to have a motorbike (Honda 500cc), but due to financial problems I had to sell it. I'm just a part-time cyclist and part-time pedestrian these days.

You should see the amount they scrape of the road in Derbyshire, if you go into Matlock bath on a sunday, it's like a hells angels convention..

Hmmm, sounds familiar (not me). Jim has always ridden a motorbike and not having one for a while, says one day....Lara i'm just off too look at some Honda melody mopeds.

Fine I thought, no worries (seeing as he won't wear leathers and only a t-shirt and jeans even on a freezing December day on his previous bikes).

Low and behold, I hear a furious revving up outside the window and there is Jim beeping furiously on his new Honda Fireblade RR (jim wants me to say, oh with sports exhaust) 900cc! In yellow and blue (the bike, not him). I pretend to get cross , but underneath think it's the fucking dogs doo dahs.

He says he just potters around on it, but he overtook me one day and he didn't realise. At least I think it was him the image was a bit of a blur.

If motorbiking wasn't part of their youth anyway, how are they recapturing it? It always puzzles me, this one.

I'm thirty, and was thinking of going the motorbike route, but for everyone I know who owns a motorbike- ALL have had an accident: some minor, most very lucky escapes. My uncle should really have died, but he survived. Life is too short.

You can get away with a lapse, be it by the driver or a mechanical failure of the vehicle, in a car, but one anomaly on a bike- you're in hospital, buddy-boy.

God, get me, all serious!! That doesn't happen very often!!

As for Sam, I think he almost got ran over by Wazza'z trendier, flash-Harry dad- Ducati is far too low-brow for WZR- Wazza actually forced me off a pier when he was in his ancient bike from the 30s, complete with sidecar full of homework (reg I55Y IC3 T0553R-1) and him in his WW1 cap with Biggles spec on. Tally-ho, and I was in the drink WZR trundling off, cackling, shouting "It's the Hemel Hempsted mines for you next, impostor!" as he faded into the distance.
