James Horner's "Glory" soundtrack is a great piece of motion picture music.

Just for the battle at the end.

The Mission is one of Morricone's best, just pure beauty tho set with a tragic story.

Anything involiving Vangelis is genius, i was listening to "The Bounty" soundtrack last week and that is still haunting 20 or so years later. Blade Runner speaks for itself.

Morricone's work on John Carpenter's "The Thing" is also another masterpiece. It proved that he could do anything when it came to music and genre.

Again Morricone did master work on "The Untouchables". The list is endless as far as he goes and need I say more about his work on Leone's movies.

But for me my favourite soundtrack right now is Nick Cave's The Proposition. He wrote it also, hot stufff.

One day I will spell Bernard Herrmann's name correctly and the shock will kill me.

And somehow, in spite of my best intentions, I always leave a major name out. Morricone should be in the top five of every list of film composers.

Adding to what's already been mentioned:

The Music of Candyman (Candyman 1 & 2) - Philip Glass

Rumblefish - Stewart Copeland

Merry Christmas, Mr Lawrence - Ryuichi Sakamoto

Prince of Darkness - John Carpenter (an underrated film too)
