Take a look below, ?20 over budget but it's got everything you need. And they deliver next day.

For the amount you use it a couple of years is as much as you can expect.

Best to avoid cheapest brands as economies in plastics etc. but unless you need the features / processor power not worth buying anything too expensive. Seems like HP are flimsier than they used to be, NEC and Fujitsu-Siemens relatively well built. Panasonic traditionally well built too but cost more, really rugged ones a lot more. I know Rock distribute rugged ones too - but at a price.

I typically use mine a couple of hours a day for internet and email, also I use laptop so case gets flexed more and I now don't fold the screen down after use.

This one is second hand HP Omnibook 6100 which cost me ?100 six months ago.

Before that had second hand Omnibook 6000 which was ?160 and Acer 520 which was ?230. Each lasted about 18 months before falling apart.

What I'm going to do as a short-term temporary measure, as Sandie suggested, is that I'll install a wireless mouse to my current lappy.

Checking instructions as to how to do that. !hmmm!

Remember it'll cost you more in batteries per year than the mouse is worth.

It'll only be for a few months at the most.

I've checked my instruction manual and it doesn't inform me how to install the wireless mouse. !confused! !help!

No problemo. You can get the same laptop with 2gb of memory and a bigger hard drive for ?400, but it comes with vista.

Fuck that for a game of soldiers.

Every review I've come across on it has been positive.

Ta Prof. !thumbsup! You've been very helpful.

Vista is shite! We use it at work because when our boss upgraded our computer system, Orange (ISP), offered him this cheap deal whereby the office was fitted out with Advent lappies for free. Mind you he had to sign up to Orange for 2 years!

Have you got a wireless mouse?

The receiver just plugs into the usb port.
