Trumpton the best way to turn it off is just simply to remove the usb lead from the computer - that way it will not be drawing any power.
As it is USB you can connect/disconnect at your will without having to reboot your machine - easier and wiser than removing the batteries every time.

It's wireless, crofter. The mouse's sensor will still be on as it's run from the batteries. (these days there's no excuse for something not being able to power down if it's not being used for any length of time).

I've just bought some extra long life batteries for it.

Mine has two batteries. When I remove one the mouse is still on. This means I have to remove both in order to switch it off. A bit annoying that. !annoyed!

I don't think the batteries will be used that much while it's not being used Trumpy. My last optical mouse had to have it's batteries changed every 6 weeks or so, when I had it a few years ago. That's the fault of Battlefield 2!

I gave it away to a mate who just uses it about an hour a night on the internet and his batteries are lasting him six months. It's more about how much you use it rather than the amount of time the light is on.

Well as I'm not into computer games I won't be using mine as much as you did with yours. !wink!

Oh, I see. I'm usually on the old 'thinternet about 2-4 hours a day during the week and a bit longer at weekends.

They should last 3-4 months without you taking them out.
