The English are stereotyped just as much the other way. I was watching Dara O Briain in standup about a month back where he was in Dublin. He mentioned that he lived in England now to which the whole audience booed and jeered. (this wasn't 5-6 drunk idiots). Basically he told them they must 'get over it'.

I've been drinking round Dublin lots of times and noticed that if I keep quiet until I'd ready to get served at the bar, it's ok. If they catch the accent before being served I'm guaranteed to be ignored until there's no one else to serve at the bar.........and they're not exactly welcoming.

Irish or Scottish or Welsh stereotyping of the English is just as bad and just as wrong. People should be treated as individuals, not some generalised caricature.
