I agree with Graham.

I had to do it many moons ago for medical reasons.

20 + years and still crave now (especially after meals) but just don't do it because I don't want to do it.

My Dad packed up (again) at Christmas and was using herbal something (this time) to do it.

He was saying the this will work blah blah's.

He's back on them now and the herbal packets are in the bin.

somewhere down the middle then, this room seems divided. yes, drugs to rectify this problem is indeed a desperate measure but willpower is something that happens to other people.

patches keep falling off, gum is pointless, lozenges only last 5 mins and then you want a smoke, microtabs are the nastiest things i've ever put in my mouth ( and that includes the white sticks of pure evil ) and that little white pipe just gives you a nasty taste in your throat.

damit! i want to quit, i need to quit so champix had better work otherwise i'm buggered

Chubbs there must be a time when you've wanted a fag but simply not be able to.

When you don't have it that's willpower.

My Dad says a similar thing but never smokes around my little niece his granddaughter because he has the willpower not to.

Don't get me wrong like I said I still crave now after all these years but the choosing not to does get easier.

You need to gradually wean yourself of the fags and it will take weeks/months and its not good to try and give it up overnight as your system will be craving that nicotine fix, just try to smoke a little less each day and when you get a craving for a fag try chewing gum !happy!

How much does the course cost?

The price for an individual is $550 which includes two back up sessions (if required) and a full three month money back guarantee.

Champix / tix (varenicline) is one of the first serious drugs that is actually an agonist for the receptors in your brain that crave nicotine, most other drugs hit other area's but this this goes for the throat as it were.

NICE (National Institute for Clinical Excellence) thay are the folk who say what we can and can't have have in this country on the NHS. They are kinda torn over the ?300-400 cost per cycle per person, so they have suggested that people only get a a couple of chances on the NHS before they are given a private script and told to go buy it themselves at 3-400 a pop.

So if your doing on the NHS take the chance seriously because ?6 a packet you don't notice build up to ?168 a month, where as 3-400 you notice.

Ask your doctor to prescribe some of the 0.5mg tablets as well as the 1mg tablets so you can ramp up your dose, studies I have read indicated that 0.5mg once a day for a few days, then 0.5mg twice a day, then 2 x 0.5 in the morn and 1 x 0.5 at night, then 1mg twice a day with each ramp after 2-3 days works best in the long run as it allows your system to slowly come off the stuff and a notable (exact word) percentage of people doing this was less likely to start smoking again. This may mean until you use your packet of 0.5mg you maybe takne 2 x 0.5mg twice a day but its a small price to pay for that extra hope.

Notable usually means of the 1000 people trialling with the ramp, 37 was tempted to restart smoking, and the 1000 people without the ramp 46 was tempted, so its not huge differences but every little helps as the tesco man says. This isnt accurate and just an example :)

I am interested in pharmacology in my my spare time :)

It is said that both love and truth walk hand in hand. But if the need is great enough, can we learn to love a lie?

ANTI-SMOKING "wonder drug" Champix will hit shelves in Australia tomorrow, even after being linked to more than 62 deaths and thousands of cases of suicidal thoughts and depression in the US and Britain.

The revolutionary pill, which blocks nicotine receptors in the brain, has support from the Therapeutic Goods Administration and anti-smoking groups, even though side effects have appeared in thousands of patients over the past year.

Allan Carr Again

Post by ATS »

My wife and others stopped smoking by his method - it does work
She's not had a cig in nearly 10 years

You can buy a quick step guide of his book for about ?4. But you really
want full version book if you want to stop. There are also tapes you can
get to fit in with the book, all told that probably costs about ?25 - ?30

Paul McKenna claimed that he got the most people to stop smoking via
his methods. Carr sued the arse of him and won his case

Sad to say cancer did get Carr in the end
