Also just noticed that some sellers can make their feedback "Private" meaning you cannot actually view what feedback has been left other than overall percentage - when did this happen??
Seems Ebay wants to sweep their major sellers howlers under the carpet ... if somebody could come up with an alternative to Ebay and Paypal they would make an absolute packet.

PEOPLE think Stephen Hawking is so clever, but when you ask him a question and he is typing in the answer on his little screen, how do we know he isn't just looking up the answer on the Internet?

The problem is that it's a hen&egg situation. The value of ebay is not the software they have to administer the auctions, it is the people that use the site as buyers and sellers. That makes it hard to convince people to go elsewhere, because to make it worth to go elsewhere other people have to go elsewhere too, and who makes the start?

Some rivals exist in niche markets (e.g. in Germany: filmundo for movie-related items), but serious general-purpose rivals for ebay do not exist.
