You've called the format right mate. The 39th game would be played abroad meaning that the PL have made money in England from the 38 games. They would then make millions more from overseas fans by moving the teams abroad.

The so-called super weekend would be the first week in January.Correct me if i'm wrong but is'nt that when the 3rd Round of the FA Cup starts?

They simply have put pound signs before thought and commonsense and consideration for the genuine fans that go week in week out.spunkie wrote:

I was on the understanding that FIFA want to reduce the amount of games played in the Premiership as this would also benefit National teams and give National teams more time to aclimatise and prepare for tournaments such as World Cup's etc.

I can't see FIFA allowing this to happen. The FA have only supported the idea as there is ALOT of money involved.Or am i just being cynical?

Exhibition matches yes

Competition matches no

The Big teams people want to see already tour countries and make a killing playing 3rd rate opposition before the season starts

Its enough

Trying to ramp this up to include the other lesser names is just GREED at play

I support one of the big four clubs in the Premiership and even i oppose this idea.I don't want my team being whored across the world for the global gloryhunters to see. They don't even understand the tradition of English football. They don't know the importance of some games, whether they're 'six pointers' to decide relegation or who wins the Premiership.

The Premiership fans overseas are delusional and get bored very easily if their chosen team under performs. That is a fact

Any passionate football fan who REALLY supports their team would agree with me that this is just not on and we can't let it happen.

This will spell the end of the Premier League as we know it and the introduction of the European Super League.Clubs won't need a home ground as they will be franchised around the World, leaving behind the proper fans that turn up week in week out.

Players can't oppose this as they will be in breach of contract as they are contracted to play wherever their club is assigned, not just in England.

Money certainly is'nt my god,and should'nt be theirs either. The sooner that the powers that be at the Premier League learn this the better,or they risk losing us life long fans forever.

It's the future of football- and I say this as a WBA fan!

I'm all for it- imagine the Baggies in Hollywood!- and I fear it is the most palatable of the options in the ring for 2012- twenty years of the Premiership.

The others? Franchising. Abolishing promotion. Having a two-tier Premiership with an elite 10 and a lower 14-16. Having a Euroleague.

Let's give it a go for 5 years and by 2016, see where we are then.

Never say never mate,Baggies doing well atm and look set for promotion this time.!drink! !thumbsup!

Surely the Champions League is enough, and the Premiership attracts a global audience as it is already.

Chelsea toured the USA before the start of this present season. They sold enough shirts and other merchandise in L.A to pay the wages of Ballack,Shevchenko,Terry and Lampard etc for the rest of this season.

It's common fact that the big four Premiership clubs don't need the money as they make enough money through TV coverage and other peripherals such as merchandise and season ticket sales.

And the overseas fans are just not interested in the other Premiership clubs.Maybe Spurs,Villa,Everton being the exception as they are growing and have massive fan bases.

It's not broken,so why fix it?colonel wrote:

Will be interesting to see who bids

No one is going to want anyone less than the best so I'd say the idea is dead in the water

Scudamore reckons this idea will bring the likes of Ronaldinho,Messi and Et'to over to the Premiership. That's rubbish for a start as they can come over here whenever they want.

We already have the best League in Europe, arguably.Besides, what good will it be for the players in general if they're being trapsed half way round the world-what good will it do for their fitness levels and family life?Deuce Bigolo wrote:
