Saw Lulu in cabaret in Darwen, Lancs at the Cranberry Fold in 1967. Next day I was in Burnley at the Kierby Hotel and she came and sat at the next table in the bar with her PR guy and we had a few minutes conversation.

She was born Marie McDonald McLaughlin Lawrie and was (still is) one of the hottest British girl singers around - in every sense.

I used to travel by overnight bus from Manchester to Glasgow and v v around 1964/5 and hardly a trip would go by without a group of Scots "singing" Shout repeatedly until the driver threatened to throw them off.

Sandie Shaw (popularly known by teenagers in the early - mid 1960s as Randy Bandsaw) was very fit and always appeared barefoot.

As for Hairy Mopkin, she was never in the same league.
