Been off a few days and NO Brits posts.
Usual chaos but Mika's opening was brilliant that no one topped.
At least Jack Osbourne looked embarrassed by his family.....as we all were
The Brits
Re: The Brits
I got my priorities right and watched the football instead, but i saw some of the winners and realised that the judges who decide who wins what do have a sense of humour.
Best Male Artist:Mark Ronson.WTF??.He can't sing for toffee and all he's done is cover versions.
Best Female Artist:Kate Nash !shocked!
Yes folks,The Brits have gone all chavvy and lost direction of what is the REAL meaning of a musician ie:someone that writes and sings their OWN songs.
Still, they called it right with The Arctic Monkeys winning Best British Group and Best Album. This band is up there with the iconic likes of The Smiths,Oasis,Coldplay etc.
Did the Osbournes go the whole show without uttering expletives?
That soley would deserve an award !whistle!

Re: The Brits
Simply didn't bother. The whole mainstream music scene just doesn't seem to matter these days.
Btw - Best British group (nominees): Arctic Monkeys, Editors, Girls Aloud, Kaiser Chiefs, Take That.
As someone once said of the Carry On films, surely we can do better than this.

Have to wholeheartedly concur.
Someone here (can't recall who it was) once described the Arctics as "a pub band who happen to have had good marketing" - which pretty much sums 'em up to a tee as far as I'm concerned.
They're basically just a bunch of spotty, foul-mouthed oiks of very limited talent but with planet-sized egos who badly need taking down a peg or two.

The 'Carry On' films are now held in high regard. A few years ago they were shown at the British Film Academy with accompanying lectures and seminars.

Re: The Brits
Didn't watch it and wasn't surprised the Arctic Monkeys picked up further awards. I actually thought the most recent album wasn't very good (nowhere near as good as the first) but what else is out there?
The Brits is only aimed at under 12s these days isn't it?

Re: The Brits
I caught the last half hour. It's not something I'd usually watch. I thought it was rather marvellous and refreshing how everybody was completely pissed and/or stoned. Wouldn't get that in squeaky-clean America. And amusing to read in the media the next day how wonderful Paul McCartney was irrespective of the fact that the man couldn't hit his notes, although that may have been to do with the stress of his preceding week. All told, a good show for Blighty in the last few days what with that Harrods bloke going all delightfully hat-stand in court as well. It's made me proud to be British.
Re: The Brits
The Arctic Monkeys may be classed as a 'pub type band' but they deliver brilliant lyrics in their songs. They sing about life in general. They are a band we can relate to.
They were brilliant at Glastonbury last year. They really seem to enjoy their music and appreciate their audience/fans.Unlike the attention seeking Amy Winehouse.
I agree with Sam Slater.Their current album is nowhere near as good as their first album, but still worth listening to and deserving of a Brit award.Britpop at it's best. !thumbsup!
