Hey Arginald...What if that was you being accused and they found your DNA on those girls. Highly unlikely of course but just for the sake of argument...what if it was you being falsely accused?

This wuill always be a problem and even if it was not the issue I dont believe in the death sentence. Why become like those you dont like ie muslims or right winged middle americans.

My answer is no. ot that I wouldnt want to physically extinguish the life of someone who harmed or killed anyone near and dear to me but thats a different matter entirely.

I wouldnt even feel comfortable living in a society where hanging or executions took place. Thats to instil fear in those who dont deserve it and offers no guarantee of protection anyway.

There will always be murderers and criminals commiting heinous acts anyway.

Some might even do it just for the outcome.

i'm not sure whether i agree or disagree with the death penalty.what i do know is life should mean life with no appeals unless on a point of law or a procedural issue,no appeals for the sake of it.also prisons should be harsher, with no television and dvd players.i would bring back hard labour and tighten up on the epidemic of drink and drugs that is infesting the prison system at present.

All murderers should still be sentenced to death and if by the slim chance capital punishment is ever brought back they could still be hanged, it would give them something to think about whilst sitting in their cells waiting to be released.

I agree, Terry. 'Suicide by murder' has happened in the States- where people murder just so they can have all the attention of Death Row for themselves.

my dad was a prison officer from 1949 to 1979 and sat with a condemned man on his last night on three occasions and said it didn't bother him at all. he was very much pro capital punishment and said he would pull the lever himself if he had to with no problem.

Three years ago there was a controversial affair in the Netherlands. A man who had been found guilty of raping and killing a ten year old girl and had even confessed the murder, turned out to be innocent after all. Five years after his verdict by sheer coincidence the real murderer was found. The judicial authorities were very slow in admitting they had made a mistake. It also became clear how much pressure had been exerted on an innocent man to make him confess and on an eleven year old witness to point him out as the culprit.
If the man had been hanged instead of imprisoned, it would have been impossible to repair this judicial blunder. So leave it at life imprisonment, just to keep on the safe side. But of course, it should be LIFE imprisonment. Killers should not get a second chance.

I don't advocate the death pentalty but then again maybe if my sister, neice or friend was killed by such a bastard I would have a different opinion.

Yes, that's right. A far-too-lenient sentence, in my opinion. The religious zealot who killed Theo van Gogh did get a life sentence, however. It is very unlikely that he will ever be a free man again - unless the muslim fanatics seize power, of course.
