Elderly Care
As the baby boomers begin to grow old elderly care is a huge and problematic issue looming over society. The financial and physical man/woman hour costs of looking after the elderly are enormous. The government knows this and is quietly trying to palm those huge financial and time costs (that we have in recent times understood they would provide) off onto the relatives of the elderly and the elderly themselves ? in effect throwing them out to fend for themselves.
I see difficult times ahead with regular poignant tales of lonely old folk, who have no one left, dying in the isolation and squalor of their homes. While those that do find a place in a ?caring? institution fare little better ? being mistreated by stupid minimum wage chavs and third world asylum seekers who care not one iota for the difficult smelly unfashionable people in their charge - the awkward people who are preventing them from getting home to watch ?Corrie?, ?X Factor?, ?Big Bruva? or going out on ?the razz? wiv? their ?mates?.
Thought it?s their territory (social care) those slimey fuckers the Labour party are not confronting this issue (maybe it?s simply to big?) but they are well aware of it. Instead they slimily talk bollocks about ?old folk wanting to be independent? and ?care in the community?. Palming to the problem off onto the general populace. The problem is that the general populace doesn?t want to hear about it either; they want get on with THEIR lives and spend THEIR MONEY, on themselves. I have to say I?m worried about what the future holds.

Re: Elderly Care
Makes little difference whose in power OD
Nursing Homes and their ilk are just sanitised hospital wards
They carry very few votes because by enlarge none of us want the responsibility of taking care of our parents or relatives
In my street(20 houses)in Australia we've got 1 person who regularly exercises every morning and guess what its not the anglo-saxons or the europeans its the Asian lady 90 years old who looks 60
Far as I'm concerned we're our own worst enemies
Use or lose it or even worse end up in a nursing home

I think Dibble sees a future where he's being "cared for" by a chav or an illegal immigrant.
Oh, what a sweet revenge.....lol

Mr dibble,
Actually your wrong , all care companies and old peoples homes are required by law to only employ those with U.k citizienship , but however if you know a place where they are employing asylum seekers ,then i would recommend you report it to it to the authorities.....

That's the result of Thatcherism, Dibbs. In it for yourself and fuck the rest- though, as I have said, it was not what she intended would happen.

Re: Elderly Care
Thats not true (unless that has been introduced very recently) as long as the person is allowed to work in the uk+CRB check.
Thats why agencies and care places are brimming over with talented people from africa/poland who barely speak the language and have little concern (or understanding of care standards) for their service users.
We then come to agenccy staff who are even worse and you have to rely on them making sure their staff are to standard/checked and of course they want to profit as well.

My sister works in one of those care homes. Says they`re understaffed because no one wants to take the shit from the old folk there. Most are nice enough but you get a few nasty old fuckers. The whole staff have been reported for and accused of stealing by problematic inhabitants multiple times.
And I remember a lot of old folk I knew getting their homes taken possesion of and then sold off by care homes to pay for care under the conservative government. Wasn't "Care in the community" one of their favorite phrases.

Bukkake shots where you are with a few other guys...is fucking gay.
In fact, about pulling trains with a woman...you wanna have sex with other guys and mix your sperm with theirs...you're just using a woman as a conduit.

Re: Elderly Care
Past governments over the past 40 years must have known that life expectancy has constantly been rising for 100s of years. Rather than raise taxes, or advance the age of retirement (unpopular, but essential policies) they've been passing the buck because it was a problem of the future.
Blaming the current government for the current problem is lunacy. These old people you talk about are 70+. It's not like 'Nu-Labour' created this. Anything Labour does now is just mopping the mess other governments have left them with.
As for workers in care homes: Maybe a little respect is due.....and I'm not just talking of respect to the elderly. The care workers are doing a thankless job, that demands long, unsociable hours, patience of angelic proportions, all for shit money. Being bitten, swore at, spat at are DAILY occurrences which they take on the chin. My cousin is a care worker in such a home and she's always coming home with bruises, bite marks and the odd 3rd degree burns due to hot food and drink being thrown at her.
Lots of the old people are angry and frustrated with their situation, the abandonment from family, and are not easy to look after. You don't magically stop being a nasty bastard just because you've reached 70.
Of course, there are bad carers and some may even be Eastenders loving, gum chewing chavs.....but most do care and do the best they can in a fucking horrible job.
I'd like to see Officer Dibs wipe up shit, piss and vomit, wash a 90 year old mans bollocks/arse-crack/foreskin, continually deal with death, be scolded by tea/coffee, rushed for your tetanus because you've been bitten (again) and be considered immaculate in manner 12 hour shift after 12 hour shift, year after year.
I'm not good enough to cope with such a career, and I'll admit it. I take my hat off to these young kids that can.

Sam, I did castigated NuLabour for not confronting or publicly acknowledging this issue - and maybe even stealthily washing their hands of it. But for the life of me I can?t see where in my post I blamed the current government for ?creating? the problem of the aging baby boomers ? a problem that has been brewing since the early 60?s. Could you help me out? I?ve read it a couple of times and I can?t see where I said NuLabour ?created? the problem.

Then what do you propose we do with them? Do you, for instance, want to pay a hefty chunk more in taxes (and forgo that backpacking trip to Goa) for someone else to look after them? Do you yourself want to look after them? Do you wish they would just go away and disappear so that you don?t have to face up to the issue?
