My cousin (an ex-Navy Lt. Commander) knew Prince Andrew when he served with him in the RN both during and after the Falklands carry-on, and according to him, all that guff in the press about the cunt flying decoys for exocets was just a load of PR nonsense cooked up by the powers-that-be and the Buck House press office to show him (and by extension the rest of the royals) in a favourable light and to make him look "heroic", while in reality he did fuck-all of note.
In fact he was more trouble than he was worth down there, as they had to go to great lengths make sure that nothing happened to him, lest the Argies were handed a major propaganda coup. So he had to be kept well out of the firing line.
However, once Hewitt gets back from Afghanistan, I predict similar fabricated tales of derring-do, telling us all how heroic he was and putting his life on the line every day - and no doubt there'll be plenty more nice publicity shots of a be-helmeted Harry cradling a weapon and looking all macho and serious in body armour "just before heading out on patrol", much like the propaganda photo in the linked article.
All total bollocks of course, as he'll probably spend 99% of his time safely tucked away on base playing chess and sipping tea with his Sandhurst chums Pongo and Rupert, and with a troop of SAS watching his every move when he makes any token forays outside.

Re: Harry Hewitt.
Well, well, that didn't take long:
This is really quite pathetic.
A few thousand badly armed local tribesmen against the whole N.A.T.O. set-up and the M.O.D. are shitting themselves because of one ginger dickhead.

Depends who the WE is. I don't but suspect others do.

Suppose the question should be do you laugh when you see anyone else in the same condition.
If yes you've got issues. If not then what makes this person any different.
As I stated above I don't give a toss about him being out there although I do think as a member of the forces he should be IF the rest of his regiment is.
My only thought is the bloke can't win. Gets called all sorts when he doesn't go but then gets stick when he does by some.
The only other thing I would say is that if any member of the armed forces is now killed because some fuckwit decided to put his being there in the public domain then said fuckwit has a lot to answer for.

The truth at last!
Well, don't worry son- England hates you too.

Be that as it may, Randy Andy was there and he did fly Sea Kings off the Invincible. If the ship had been hit by Exocets or torpedos he'd have been in it with every other man on board. I like that about the navy, there's no rear echelon on a warship.
As for Prince Harry, I notice he was carrying a Browning pistol at all times. I guess he was told to make sure he never got taken alive!
