The great 'lost' Yes classic- I think the best song that they ever did.

'Lost'- well, doesn't appear on their greatest hits collections, apparently at the behest of Jon Anderson, who walked out of the band straight afterwards and into Anderson Bruford Wakeman Howe and more 70s progrock work.

But, in case you've forgotten it- here it is:

But it's not progrock, Ace. That's why Anderson walked out afterwards. Some sources say he refused to sing it and Trevor Rabin was the vocalist. Rabin certainly wrote it solo.

Now, compare with this more garagey performance from a Yes tribute band.

Clearly, the singer should be taken out and shot as he is wearing too tight trousers. But the bassist- one hairy trucker who plays in the John Paul Jones/Peter Hook style with plenty of phat chords. Worth playing for him alone-watch and learn kids.

A prime slice of guilty pleasure 80s AOR, Colonel. I'd forgotten this.

Did Rabin really do all the work here? He's very successful in Hollywood these days. Anderson doesn't appear happy, although that may be the the outfits they're wearing. Anyone with a phobia of mullets would be best not clicking.

Anderson walked out straight afterwards, saying that he felt Yes had lost its direction. As a result, Atlantic did not renew their contract- the first sign of the loss of all their great 60s-80s bands- and both 'Yes' line-up eventually ended up on Arista, before moving to ever more independent labels.

This was from Big Generator the follow up to 90125, their most successful album (sales wise). I think Owner of a Lonely Heart was the single from that album and was a US no. 1.
