I was in Newcastle last night for a concert and went for a pint beforehand. The fans were very down, slagging off the so called saviour Keegan and predictably the talk was "when Alan takes over we will win every trophy for years on end, as we have done in the past..." Shearer will also solve the Middle East's problems and walk to work down the Tyne every morning.

Relegation will destroy the club, they cannot operate such a big set up outside SKY TV land, sorry the Premier Division. That and a lot of their overpaid "stars" will have a walk away clause in their contracts. Owen will
break light speed out of Newcastle if they go down.

Mates of mine are fans and in recent weeks have been loaning out their season tickets instead of going to matches which sums it up.

Big support, small club.

Franny Lee promised City all and sundry Sam but still disapointed.

Another difference is the fans. When City was relegated to the now League 2 they were still getting crowds of 30,000+,which was brilliant.Even remember them selling three quaters of the old Wembley stadium for their play-off final against Gillingham.

If Newcastle got relegated this or next season their fanbase would nosedive as it happened before when they got relegated in the late 1980's.

The bottom line is that they are a badly administered club as you rightly said.

Newcastle fans must face one fact. That success will not arrive overnight and kneejerk decisions from the powers that be at SJP will do them no favours in the long run.Lucifer Sam wrote:

endorsement from above...never good
with statements like this you can feel the knives are being sharpened

Newcastle are just three points off the bottom three and Mort said that there is no danger that Keegan will turn his back on the club a second time.

"The board is 100% behind Kevin, and there is no doubt or worry that he will walk away," Mort told BBC Radio Five Live's Sportsweek.

If Newcastle enter the bottom 3 gone for sure, sentimental favourite or not

You've got to wonder about a administration that waits just as the transfer window is about to close to replace their manager

Personally i think they should have stuck with Sam

Fans had lost faith in Allardyce. But you're right about the timing---mad.

In spite of everything, there were 50,000 at the game on Saturday.

But they seem to lose faith in anyone who doesn't bring *instant* success.

Why don't they lose faith in a board who appointed a man who didn't play 'Newcastle' football, who told them his plans would need 3 years to see through, and then sacked 20 odd games later?
We have need of you again, great king.

No way Dennis Wise will be the next manager ... that just cannot happen, well unless they get relegated!!
I really do fear for the Geordies now as even when they do batter teams they still cannot put the ball in the net, plus they still are leaking goals. I think Keegan will be given time to at least see what he can do in the transfer market in the Summer but he does look slightly out of touch with football in general.
PEOPLE think Stephen Hawking is so clever, but when you ask him a question and he is typing in the answer on his little screen, how do we know he isn't just looking up the answer on the Internet?

That's all too well Caractacus, but would Newcastle still draw crowds of 50,000+ 'if' they slipped into the Championship?.Reason why it's vital they consolidate their Premiership status, which won't be a problem this season but if they don't improve when next season starts then they will have problems.

I know for a fact that Chelsea,Man U,Liverpool,Arsenal,Spurs etc would'nt draw full houses if the unthinkable senario of relegation ever dawned upon them.

No need to worry for Newcastle.

They're away to Liverpool next game and we've allowed Anfield to become a benefit for all the needy clubs so he and Newcastle will be fine by 5pm this coming Saturday.

Now you are taking the piss !laugh!

Newcastle will continue to flirt with relegation but wins against Fulham,Reading and Sunderland and a point at Spurs or West Ham will ensure their saftey.

I reckon they'll clock up between 6-10 points which will be enough.

Fear not Geordies.I've already played the premier league predictor game and Newcastle are nowhere near the bottom six !happy!eduardo wrote:

Not defending the club in any way, shape or form. Just stating that, despite all the recent problems, they still managed to attract 50,000 fans to Saturday's game.
