I dunno so much Officer. I read somewhere about huge butter mountains in America and all the excess grain that are literally burned off every year on top of the food wastage per tonne statistics and I cant help but wonder; is this really all true? Then you drive around the country and see how much land could be built on and you read about the UK being the highest for teenage pregnancies but then the population is not increasing by as much because people are having children later in life and you dont really know what to believe.

The only time I think there are far too many people on the planet is when I'm stuck in a traffic jam on the M25.

Most people think commodities especially agriculture would be a good long term investment but at present there may be a mini bubble because of so many people bailing out of equities. In fact commodities did quite badly in the last two days.

Same with "gender issues": Discrimination on the grounds of gender is illegal. (At least, that is, as far as discrimination against women is concerned - it still seems to be quite acceptable to discriminate against men !grin!).

I think what the good osssifer means is that it's 'trendy metrosexual bollocks' the way the governing classes (egged on by ever-growing legions of self-appointed "champions of the disenfranchised", "social commentators" and champagne Socialists) constantly pander to supposedly "persecuted minorities" every time someone "of colour" or who "bats for the other team" throws their toys out of the pram because they feel hard done-by for whatever reason.

Sure, a racist element will always exist in any society and the UK is no different (and don't forget that blacks & Asians can be just as bigoted and racist as whites).

But the odd local councillor or two notwithstanding, the BNP are never likely to amount to much more than a bunch of nutty extremists out there on the lunatic fringe.

And despite the burgeoning chav underclass, the uneven distribution of wealth etc. etc. and all the associated social problems, the world isn't like it was in the inter-war years, and the UK in 2008 (for all its many faults) isn't Weimar Germany.

'Fascism'
Comes in all different forms and strengths, and not just awful white english hetrosexual males. Many supposedly democratic governments have elements of fascism, it's just that they dress it up, cover it up and dilute it.
