At the risk of annoying Ace and Mike, well done to the Tykes.

What an absolutely fantastic day of football.
Re: Way to go, Barnsley
..............or should that say what an aboslutely fantastic day for football.
Re: Way to go, Barnsley
I just hope the Chelsea boys don't start blaming the manager for this one. Everybody said he got his team selection all wrong for the Carling Cup Final but today he played most of the ones that were left out then, but apart from Joe Cole and perhaps Ballack, Chelsea just did not fancy it today.
PEOPLE think Stephen Hawking is so clever, but when you ask him a question and he is typing in the answer on his little screen, how do we know he isn't just looking up the answer on the Internet?
Re: Way to go, Barnsley
Without one of the so called Top 4 , watch the media say that this years cup has been devalued
Re: Way to go, Barnsley
They can say what they like. The so-called big four have shown a lot of contempt for this competition, and the other domestic cup, over the years, putting in reserve sides against teams from the lower divisions. Not an excuse that Liverpool or Chelsea can wheel out this year, though.
In spite of said contempt, this is still the premier domestic cup competition in the world---just because teams from the lower leagues have a history of upsetting the big boys.
Hope Cardiff get through tomorrow---Boro rode their luck against the Blades in the last round.

Re: Way to go, Barnsley
Without taking anything away from the determined way Portsmouth played - they obviously decided to go for a draw as a game plan - the standard of refereeing was abysmally inconsistent.
Ferguson has already been slagged off by commentators on both Sky and the Beeb for his comments (both organisations, of course, frightened stiff of offending the FA) and may well be heavily fined but someone, sometime, has to say something which will persuade the dick heads at the FA that every week referees bring the game into disrepute, not by missing the glaringly obvious but by being inconsistent in their decisions.
Again, though Ferguson has a reputation as being a moaner about timekeeping, five susbstitutions x 30 seconds plus the time taken over the sending off and a couple of injuries amounted to five minutes 50 seconds on my clock.
For a Lancastrian even a Yorkshire team beating Chelsea is a better result than them progressing.
Should be an very interesting set of semis.

Re: Way to go, Barnsley
I watched the Man Utd game and the ref was awful.
It's nice for the underdog to progress of course but Man Ut d were denied an obvious penalty and then got the keeper sent off despite him not being the last man.
Hey, maybe the ref wanted the 'magic' back?
