Bristol Rovers - can they?

Post by bristolian »

For the uninitiated, Bristol Rovers are known as The Gas, and fans as Gasheads. On MOTD be on the look out for the following :
1. Pirates
2. References to the state of the pitch
3. Plucky Rovers
4. References to the quirky anthem Goodnight Irene
5. "Good times for the city what with Bristol City top of the Championship" (won't last plus they will do a Derby next year even if...)

Let's hope Barnsley have showed those big-time charlies the Way forward
and we can cause another upset.

C'mon The Gas

!footie!

As you said, would be great for the City of Bristol if they did win it but if the Baggies unleash Kevin Philips on you today then i'm afraid you ain't got a prayer.

Rovers only hope today is that West Brom have promotion to the premiership on their minds,as that is surely top of their priorities.

Should be an interesting match and good luck to both sides !drink!

Sorry Bristolian.

Credit to Rovers though, they had us on the back foot for long periods. The main difference between the teams was our finishing we were very clinical today.

Good luck to Rovers in league one for the rest of the season.

I second all of that.

I found Rovers' keeper Steve Phillips to be a Premier standard player- the scoreline flattered the Baggies. Lyons was also someone to watch out for in the future.

The Memorial Stadium looked a lovely ground- and Rovers have some very pretty blonde fans. A mate who goes there to watch rugby tells me what a great venue it is.

Good luck to Rovers in the future- sorry Bristolian. You deserve promotion- go out and get it!

Fair play boys although 5-1 looks like a beating and we didn't deserve that.
Agreed- Lines has impressed this term. The ground is amazing when full- on Sunday half-full of people who don't go near it on a cold November Tuesday v Northampton- and we did play some good football.
Miller is something else, though. Great second goal.
Baggies v Pompey- tough but winnable I guess??
