I'd swap it all now for six league points. (Barnsley)

It's like a breath of fresh air through the whole of the English game.

The last time none of the "Big Six" (that's the "Big Four" plus Spurs & Everton) was in the final was way back in 1975 (West Ham v Fulham) and the last time a club from outside the "Big Six" won it was in 1988 (Wimbledon).

I reckon that the final this year (whoever's in it) will be a cracker because both teams will be desperate to win - as opposed to a bunch of pampered millionnaires going through the motions.

Fantastic for the neutrals, and (as Ace says) a big Two Fingers to the money-men, the fat-cats and the fair-weather fans of the big clubs.

Wrong, Colonel, you have Pompey, while Barnsley and Cardiff contest the other semi.

The FA got more greedy as Thatcher made football fashionable, using Hillsborough as the catalyst to do so.Do not tell me she cared about the people that perished in a such a horrible disaster. This was her moment to drive the REAL football fan out of the game by bringing in CCTV inside grounds, wired fences to make us feel like prisoners, then all seats and increased ticket prices that would favour the 'yuppie' football fan as opposed to the working class fan as football was always a working man's sport.

By introducing all seater stadiums,it made most premiership stadiums sanatised with unemotional fuckwits and gloryhunters attending matches.

Do not tell me it's unsafe to stand on a football terrace, when it's deemed ok to stand on a speeding train from London to Manchester(or wherever)

Is it our fault that 'New Wembley' cost nearly ?700m to build?.The FA will get more and more greedy, organising meaningless England games and anything else they can think of,entertaining the coroparate football fan and fleecing the genuine football fan.

The FA's greed will eventually signal the 'death of football'.And there's simply nothing we can do about it.

Good semi final draw. Was hoping the Baggies would avoid Pompey, but the Baggies have a great chance in upsetting 'Uncle Arry's' big day.Barnsley's tie against Cardiff will be a tough one to call.

Should be a good weekend of football.I wonder how many people, with no connection to these clubs will be watching?

Don't hold your breath,i hear you say !whistle!.

I've been arguing about the financial side of football for years, in particularly the way UEFA has turned its tournaments from something where smaller teams can get their chance against the big boys into an exclusive, rich clubs only, gated community. Champions League with not just runners up from the big six countries, but third and fourth-placed teams too.

They won't be happy until there's an elite European league; the English authorities won't be happy until the Gillinghams, Carlisles, Scunthorpes etc are out of business and everyone can get round to supporting Man Utd, Arsenal, Liverpool et al.

In Scotland, we've just seen Gretna come from nowhere, advance through all the divisions into the SPL, and now they've gone into administration. Even if the club is saved, through some financial miracle, it's likely it'll need to drop to the third division in order to survive.

Oh, and if they thought they could get away with it, I'm sure the FA would introduce some kind of seeding system to ensure they don't have four unfashionable clubs contesting the cup semi-finals ever again. This year's situation is good for the clubs involved, for the neutrals, but a disaster for an organisation that sells TV rights for the final worldwide.

Brilliant post Sir.
I've never given time of day to the financial side of football as i've always thought of football as a sport, rather than a buisness.

It too makes me sick the way UEFA has changed their competitions and the FA's contempt towards the lower league clubs, the grass roots of football.

What the FA don't realise is if one takes away the lower league club, they take local buisness too as they thrive and depend on the custom of the supporters.

The price of food, drink and other peripherals at Wembley too is enough to make you sick.

I've only been to the New Wembley once, and i'm not likely to go back again. In fact,i'm considering on completely boycotting football

It's just not the same anymore.

I must admit that I am seriously considering not going to Anfield whilst the Yanks are still involved with the club.

One of them looks as though he is on his way out but the other looks like he might be around for a while yet.

This isn't a decision I'd take lightly as I've been travelling to Anfield every season since 1985 and whereas I haven't been a season ticket holder since 1994, I do still go to Anfield 5 to 6 times a season, every season and as I travel from Devon then it is quite a long journey.

Would'nt blame you eduardo if you did boycott Anfield as too you must admit is'nt the same anymore.20/30 odd years ago, when Liverpool were invincible and respected by almost everyone it was proper Liverpool fans that attended matches, the legacy was still there.

The gloryhunter, fairweather fans then move in,you know the sort, the one's that don't know the songs, don't know the history and then have the bare faced cheek to ask you to sit down, because they can't see.

Another thing that pisses me off is the 'nouveaux' football fan that goes for a pre-match meal in some poncy bar or restaraunt, instead of mingling with the real football fan in pubs away from the stadium. Also the fan that spends most of the game with a mobile phone taking pictures like they've never seen a football ground in their life, which is likely the case.

Now can people understand why i'm so disgruntled about the way the game and the passion of the game has been taken away from the real, genuine, fan !sad!eduardo wrote:
