i have an antique ring that i no longer want.
what do i do with it?
most jewellers will only give me scrap value for it (approx ?8).
im not looking to make mega bucks from it i just think its a lovely little ring that doesnt deserve to be melted down. Of course if they offered me loads of doe i prob would change my mind about that. lol
is ebay my best option or have any of u bright sparks got any good suggetions for me?
seems jewellery only has a value of centimentallity.
i suppose i could give it to a charity shop and do my good deed for the day.

Re: antique jewellery
E-bay is probably your best bet unless the jewllery has "history" or is unique in some way, and is therefore colectable/auctionable.

The only difference between erotic art and porn is how much you can charge for it... 3.99 a mag its porn; 399 a print, its art!
If you hang it on a wall... would the Rev. faint or comment on it; if the former its Porn :-P

its quite a unique and i would say rare (but im no expert) 1920's piece but i only know the history of its last 10 years. hense why im keen not to melt it down.

Try the Antique Road Show, or Flog It, and their experts will offer advice. It does help if the item has a documented history, I believe (not that I'm an expert).

Antique jewellery from the 20's is very common Miss Caine, sentimentality doesn't mean two fucks to dealers, they will, as you stressed, melt it down.
Put a reserve on ebay so if it doesn't sell its potential, you can always keep it.
Personally, I'd keep it

Hi Sandie is it 9crt or 18crt and does it contain stones if so what kind, diamonds, saphires, rubys etc, trouble is if you sell it on ebay you will need to describe it accurately otherwise it will just make scrap value, todays scrap price for 9crt is ?5.376 a grm and about double that for 18crt, hope this is of some help !confused!
