Life expectancy at birth for males in Zimbabwe is 37, the lowest in the world. Life expectancy for females is even lower at 34 years. Currently, 5.6 million Zimbabweans live with HIV.Inflation is out of control.Human rights are non existanct yet the cunt Mugabe recently celebrated his birthday in unashamed opulence.Many of his people are starving to death. This beautiful country is led by a murdering tyrant who is up for election tomorrow.When I look at this fucking mess I despair at how we interfere in shit holes like Afhganistan and Iraq but cant find a few hundred troops to rid the world of the cunt that is Mugabe.No doubt he will be re-elected and this country will limp on until the turd dies.I hope it will be long and painful.

The trouble with Zimbabwe is that even the little we are doing is seen as the anger of a former imperialist master. None of the neighbouring countries will say a word against the monster Mugabe, for fear that it might set a precedent and they will be next.

In parts of the continent, life is very cheap and ignorance is rife. South Africa, a country that should be setting an example, has senior politicians that deny there is a problem with AIDS/HIV. There is still a belief among some people, in Uganda, for example, that having sex with a virgin will cure a man of AIDS. That results in rape, child abuse, and the victims of both being infected.

Corruption is a problem. Those in power use their positions to feather their own nests, at the price of thousands of their own citizens. And as for violence, Channel 4 last night showed some of the horror that is still going on in the Democratic Republic of Congo; the Islamic government of Sudan is still encouraging the gangs to terrorise black African citizens in Darfur. Rape and murder are a common currency for many of these nations; what we call atrocities are just a day's work to the armed gangs that go from village to village on their murderous rampages.

Mugabe has been in charge of one of the bread baskets of Africa for decades. Now, it's become more important for him to retain power than to ensure his people are fed, that the economy is stable. His supporters get what little is available, ensuring their loyalty. And this is one of the most intelligent leaders on the continent.

There's nothing we can do without the support of Zimbabwe's neighbours, and we don't have it. If we go in, our troops will face conditions that make Iraq and Afghanistan look like a walk in the park. Until the world, and in partocular the African world, recognises the need for a regime change, nothing can be done.

You're ignoring the main point. Unless South Africa, Botswana, Zambia and the like condemn Mugabe, there's no way Britain (or the US, for that matter) can get involved. Any military action we take would be spun, and seen, as an attack on a sovereign nation by a former imperialist country. Our troops would not thank you for being dropped into Zimbabwe in such circumstances.

Whatever our intentions, Mugabe's fellow leaders would see just one thing: them, potentially, the next target.

AIDS in Africa is all down to their gullibilty and lack of education on safe sex.Most Africans really believe God will put a curse on them if they wear condoms or if African women take the pill,something that is frowned upon by devout Catholics worldwide...every sperm is sacred and all that bollocks.

The Vatican still to this day stay tight lipped and ignorant about the AIDS problem in Africa.They should have blood on their hands,the evil bastards.

Apparently when Bliar was PM he did discuss with UK military leaders the possibility of attacking Zimbabwe. It was ruled out because of lack of resources and the political reaction in South Africa etc.

Why this country wont storm in and bash the fuck out of (pardon my french) Robert Mugabe is probably because he is no threat because his country has no money for nuclear research and oil is not central to the issue.

Maybe if they started with a bunch of terrorists then maybe things might change but I suspect they are just too busy trying to find something to eat to stay alive and avoiding HIV...
