You have to remember that at that time football hooliganism was widespread and even the government were also determined to crackdown on it. The decision to ban all English clubs from playing in europe was not just down to this incident, it was just the catalyst due to the severity of it. To be honest, this kind of incident had been coming for years. Clubs had been warned previously to crackdown on the hooligans.

I suggest you speak to some people who have had experiance with Italian fans my friend(Arsenal springs to mind in 1980).The Italian fans on the tragic night of Heysal were as Guilty(some of them anyway, like it was only some of the scousers out there) of violence.
English fans abroad havn't always been angels granted, but i've seen it from the other side, the way we get treated (in some countries, not all) is a Disgrace.
Look at my own team,Spurs, last year when we went to Sevilla, even their own fans came out and said the way the police treated us was diabolical.
Its not always the way the press would have you believe.

i didn't say that a total ban was imminent. I meant that at that time hooliganism was causing major problems and would have contributed to the ban on all clubs. You specifically singled out Liverpool and this incident. Yes of course it was totally horrendous and i don't recall trying to justify their behaviour so get off your high horse.

Homophobic as well as a troll? Dear oh dear....

I'm glad I 'humour' you, actually. I wish I could say that despite your rudeness and lack of style, you also humour me; sadly, you don't.

Why the homophobia anyway? 'hj4u' is obviously 'txt spk' for 'hand job 4u?
