I thought that the America covered by Yes was the Bernstein/Sondheim one from West Side Story, rather than the Paul Simon song (which, incidentally, is in my opinion one of the ten best songs ever written).

Definately the Simon and Garfunkell version, however when playing live they do incorporate 2 bars of the Bernstien version into the intro.

I can't imagine Anderson and Co doing that, but I bow to your superior knowledge.

Comfortably Numb-Pink Floyd then a classic song was totally destroyed by the Scissor Sisters.

Wish You Were Here-Another classic Floyd ditty that was covered totally differently by Wycleff Jean in the 1990's.

Back to Kirsty MacColl -

She covered Billy Bragg's "A New England" - he wrote an extra verse especially for her, which he now sings in honour of Kirsty when performing live.

Swerving the thread, check out Bill Bailey's Billy Bragg tribute - "Unisex Chip Shop" (it's on Youtube). Utter genius.

Kirsty wrote and recorded "They Don't Know" - covered by Tracey Ullman who also covered "My Girl" by Madness.

Wasn't there a Lulu cover of The Man Who Sold The World ? I think Bowie played on it too.
