Or will it be as crap as today's Olympic Flame parade?
And what happened to the British Olympic Games- does anyone outside London care?
Will the London Olympics be a success?
Re: Will the London Olympics be a success?
You might as well TRY to enjoy it as its YOUR taxes that will fund the majority of this white elephant
The West London of my youth is now on dvd

Re: Will the London Olympics be a success?
It's the shape of things to come colonel.I don't think it will be a success.Us Londoners will just be faced with increased council tax bills and a load of 'white elephants' once it's all over.
BBC London conducted a poll recentley, and 57% of Londoners think the 2012 Olympics won't benefit them. There simply is no incentive for Londoners.
In the same poll.73% of Britons don't care about the Olympics.Us Londoners did'nt ask for the Olympics.
It's certainly a 'no brainer' why a referendum was'nt put to Londoners. We're only the mugs paying for it.
Btw colonel, unlucky yesterday against Pompey.I thought Baggies gave their all,and that Pompey goal was handball on the build up.It's all about promotion now fella.

Re: Will the London Olympics be a success?
I wonder if the British people had the same attitude to hosting the games in days gone by or were they as we are led to believe immensely proud of being the centre of the universe for a small time at least ... who cares what the games are going to cost - just try and be a bit happy to be British and swallow your pride Colonel!!!
PEOPLE think Stephen Hawking is so clever, but when you ask him a question and he is typing in the answer on his little screen, how do we know he isn't just looking up the answer on the Internet?
Re: Will the London Olympics be a success?
I would of prefered Paris getting it.Has to be said,Paris is a more organised City and if British Athletics fans wanted to watch the Olympics, they could just easily jump on the Eurostar.
I would of prefered we put our sporting investment into hosting the World Cup in 2018,and i mean England, not just London, though London would be capable of hosting the World Cup single-handedly by 2018 !wink!.
No defininte plans for 2012 and the structure of 2012 will be implemented until the result of the London elections on May 1st,as Red Ken,Doris Johnson and Brian Paddick wants to do things differently, and one of those three candidates will be overseeing 2012.

Re: Will the London Olympics be a success?
It is bound to be a succees, look at our recent achievements.....
Millenium Dome, Wobbly bridge across the Thames, Picketts Lock , Wembley Stadium, Terminal 5 at Heathrow...
For those that dont know Picketts Lock.
We won the bid to host the 2005 World Athletics Champinships by agreeing to build a new stadium in Picketts Lock, London.
AFTER we won the bid the government decided NOT to build Picketts Lock and said they wanted to move the event to Sheffield.
The World Athletics bosses were furious and took the event away from us and gave it to Helsinki, Finland.

And I'm still paying for the 1991 World Student Games facilities built specially for it, things like the Don Valley Stadium, a supposedly world class athletics stadium, which is so underused, its biggest attendances come from computer fairs, etc.
Good luck paying for the olympics for the next quarter century, Londoners!

We have need of you again, great king.

Re: Will the London Olympics be a success?
I think we saw today that apart from at Stratford- which should come as no surprise given the investment that will take place there- even Londoners are apathetic.
And lets be clear here- its the London Olympics for a reason- very few other areas are remotely interested it in. It certainly is not an Olympic Games for all that it could have been.
Maybe Paris should have got it.

well shoot me for being un British and not moaning but I think it will be great and i'm looing forward to going to see some other sports such as the cycling.
I'm looking back at the other big events we've had such as the Commonwealth games and the Euro champs, went to both and both were well organised and great fun
