Strictly speaking repairs aren't free... why do you think they charge ?40.00 a month for a 37" TV? If you never need to call them out, you're actually paying over the odds and subsidising those that do have their sets repaired/replaced.

With regard to Ash's query, just because both sets of speakers on his two differently sized Samsung TVs have similar specifications doesn't mean they'll sound the same. Firstly they may have been manufactured differently. The casing of the whole TV will have an impact, as will the placing of the speakers and their direction. Where the TV is placed in a room will also affect the sound quality.

Having said that, if the sound is distorted when using the TV speakers, but fine when relayed through a home cinema system, then that would suggest something wrong with the speakers. Some TV speakers lack punch (and that's why you should go to a proper Hi-Fi/TV showroom rather than Currys/Dixons etc to test), but none should sound distorted all the way through the volume range.

Ash... did you test the set out in a dedicated demo room before buying? If so, is there a marked difference in the sound quality between the tested set and the one you have at home. When the set was delivered, did they also install and test it? If you bought from a "proper" Hi-Fi shop they would have set everythuing up for you and not left until you were happy.

You must have a huge sitting room to fit a 60" screen. My sitting room is big enough to accommodate three 4 seater sofas (22 ft x 17ft), but I'm never more than about 15ft away from the screen so have a 37" (I suppose I could go up to 42" but the 37" takes up enough room as it is!)

I have a sitting room of similar dimensions and I'm sat about 13 feet away. I've had a 50" Sony DLP for the past 10 years but my eyesight?s not getting any better (must be this dam business) and I like as immersive experience as possible when watching my favorite movies. Shit, I'd have gone for a 70" or 80" if there was one available as advanced as the Kuro at a price that fell within the bounds of reason. Of course I could have gone for a projector, but I wanted something more practical - something that would be as comfortable being switched on to watch the midday news as in the evening, in a dimly lit room, watching the latest Blu-Ray blockbuster.

Ash,
Depends on the retailer..unless its faulty they are not obliged to refund you .A good retailer would.Although PC World are a bunch of cunts if you have any sort of problem ..IMHO !! BTW If it develops a fault within 5 years you can claim a cost of repair..the 12 months warrantee is a load of smoke and mirrors.it makes it easier for all concerned if the fault is within 12 months but if for example you buy a telly and it goes wrong four years later you would still have a claim. The retailer would initially tell you to fuck off but that is the law .You would probably have to go to a small claims court but you would win.guaranteed and get al your costs back.Currys,Dixons,Comet all hide behind the 12 months bollocks!

Bloody hell Steve, I thought renting went out with 405 lines and turret tuners.
Isn't it like tearing up fivers in your living room?
