Oh, and by the way......my post was originally at least vaguely on-topic......please don't hold me responsible for the hijackers.
That's where you fell down on the job, not with my post..........I can ecommend a good General Practitioner, if you're interested.....you're apparently a little too stressed....

Re: My brain hurts
i give you the gentlest of nudges, reminding you of the new o/t stipulation, in return i get a dismissive lecture on it's total irrelevance.
yes, as it happens, you have made hundreds of off topic posts to this forum, as have magoo and but(t)sie and others but have we deleted them on mass? no! why not? because the forum is a community and as with all communities they have a propensity to diversify from their original purpose as people get to know each other and find other points of common interest, develop in jokes, etc. that is the sign of a healthy happening place and is definitely not to be discouraged.
so, the forum is primarily here to help people find out or pass on information about british models/videos, etc but the social aspect is acknowledged as an important part of its makeup. however, there is a balance to be struck. over the past year or so, we've had a number of comments/complaints from users, that there are just too many o/t posts that either have no relevance to bgafd, or which interfere with otherwise relevant, on topic threads.
our solution is to encourage people to add the o/t prefix to their subject headers. this allows the social elements within the forum to continue doing their thing, whilst enabling those who aren't interested to carry on doing theirs. having decided upon this, we have two ways of introducing this scheme: announce it on the forum as something to be strictly enforced from the outset - even if it meant deleting a lot of posts until people get the message; or nudge people towards compliance until it eventually becomes second nature to type in those three characters before launching a discussion on the art of custard pie fighting!
THAT was the intention behind my original post - a post in which i specifically stated that i was NOT having a go at you - and that is why i got pissed off with your dismissive attitude: because the whole point of "o/t" is to allow yourself, magoo and buttsie, etc to carry on your merry way but without getting in the way of those who aren't interested.

(o/t)Why Me? What Did I Do?
I have arrived a bit late on this due to custard problems but as my name has been mentioned twice in this thread I will reply despite being very busy with work and domestic upheavals.
I am quite happy to learn to use the (o/t) prefix if it will save the moderators from getting complaints via e-mail from the various whingers who like to moan because they think people are having fun or god forbid making freinds. How long before other posters get tied in. Perhaps Lizards love for tea will provoke a storm of protest from the moaners next.
I try to be balanced and feel that there is a misunderstanding here. Certainly no reason for tempers to fray. Its not a major issue. There are many off topics from many people not just the three posters WG mentioned. But thanks for the name check Woodgnome. I have not posted much the last few days so thanks for keeping my public profile by reminding everyone that I am an o/t merchant!
JJ dont take it personally. He was quite nice to you really. I have had worse reprimands from him. Now lets all relax.
As in all communities people will clash from time to time.

Re: My brain hurts
OK, OK, enough already.
It's too hot to argue. I still disagree with you more than slightly, and question why you should have chosen a) me and b) this particular moment, but it is, after all, your house and manners dictate that your rules should apply.
I would contend that my original post was on-topic in terms of informing people who needed to reach me of the current situation: I can hardly be blamed if the thread subsequently goes awry, or for replying to jesting remarks in kind.
Will keep such trivia to the barest minimum in future, with the headed addition of 'O/T' where appropriate. I hope that will also apply to future posts on models' whereabouts/satellite soft-core stuff/browsers etc etc.

de ja vu
Once again the moaning minority/majority have gotten their way.
Feel free in the future if I post off-topic comments without the O/T too delete me.I normally need about three swift kicks in the backside before it becomes second nature.
cheers

Re: My brain hurts
you might not know this (and you might not want to know it) but you have made over 3000! posts to the bgafd forum and on only one occasion, before this minor spat, have i pulled you up about something (and that was a v. minor affair about what, i cannot recall). i hardly think picking on you, is a fair analysis and i don't understand why you would think that given the wording of my original post.
it is because you are one of the most loquacious contributors to this forum, that what you do helps set the accepted practices adopted by others. nudging someone who only posts once or twice a week to do the correct thing, isn't going to influence anyone, one way or the other. upon reflection, perhaps it would have sat better had i made a general post to the forum beforehand, highlighting those aspects of the the faq update which concern us more immediately than others - including the o/t thing.
re. your last paragraph - there's nothing to be gained from pedantry on your part or ours. the forum will never be perfect and we don't realistically expect it to be. all we want to do is try and encourage best practice to an decent degree, so that the forum functions in a way that suits most people most of the time.
