Evenin all ( sorry dibble)
POP-UPS are a pain in the arse, but they pay for the host
that provides the web space for us to stare at all the jack and anny out there. If you dont want pop-ups, go to tools,Internet options, then click on the security tab. Click on custom level
and disable active scripting, and paste operations by script, that will stop pop-ups, however sites which open jpegs in a separate frame may not work ie: java scripting will be disabled
but there,s not very many sites using this, and the pictures are usually to small to bother about anyway.

Use the browser Opera pop ups still happen but they can be closed alot easier, plus the full screen shit does not happen. I switched over a month ago and Internet Explorer is now on my pc gathering dust.

and if you don't take this sound advice and are stuck on a full screen hold down the Alt key and hit F4 - also useful for closing multiple pops more quickly than a mouse

...or just use Opera, minimise the little B's, and leave them in the corner where they can't do any harm.

....although Opera does seem very prone to overload and freeze. A nuisance, but the pros largely outweigh the cons.

I use the free Pop Up Stopper courtesy of Panic Ware which works a treat, and is very easy to use.
