PopUps or Hacked ?

I am getting a popup on this site every time I change page. It is the obnoxious Gator installer. Anybody else suffering?

I ain't getting any pop ups from this site, but I did get them from every site I went to once, but it was that fucking purple monkey advert. It turned out that either a wep page or a program had intalled a pop up maker on the pc. I got ride of it my pressing ctrl+alt+del and finding the program that was running and I didn't know, then ending the task, i then removed the program from the start up menu in msconfig. Just make sure you take out the right program if this is the case. on mine it was called CD_Load. A good way to check if it the right program to take out, go to find and search for the program name, if it comes up in an anti-viruse folder or such, then its not the one.

When I ran my Ad-aware program() the other day it came up with spyware from gator.I didn't see any pop ups though.

As someone said recently if we don't let these pop ups appear the sites will eventually die because of lack of revenue.The other alternative is pop ups will be gone and spyware will be in-think about it.Pop ups too me are a pain but they are a necessary evil to keep sites going.

but why pop ups and not banners and floating scripts

Not that I've ever run a website but banners only get revenue when they are clicked,where as popups generate revenue when they 'Pop Up'-true or false.

Floating scripts are those flash like images that come up in the middle of the page, sort of look like a ghost image over what you are looking at. As for pop -ups, I was under the impression they are like banners, with money only being given when they are clicked. I had heard that there where some companies that gave a min monthly payout to a site that has them, but that this was only a few $/?. Most of the money comes from a person clicking the link, or so I have been told.
