Couldn't agree more. I got a couple of his albums one with original compositions and another with jazz standards back in the '70s.
You can hear the enjoyment in his playing and the way he couldn't help but sing along sometimes even though he wasn't miked up.
Well worth searching out some old vinyl.

Dudley Moore was a staggeringly good piano player and musician, genius is not too strong a word.

I had a couple of Dudley Moore Trio albums in the 60s and they were excellent.

Years ago I remember one of those "blind" reviews where they got jazz musicians to review albums without knowing who they were. They played the Dudley Moore trio and the panel thought it was Oscar Peterson, one of the greatest jazz pianists of all time.

Couple of Dudley Moore Trio on Youtube

And if you REALLY want to see how good a piano player he was see this (funny AND clever).

It is the song "Hitler has only got one ball (River Kwai) in the style of Beethoven. And see how he puts ending on ending on ending.......

A nicely presented discography of The Dudley Moore Trio

It's incredible and rather sad that the eponymous DMT disc has never been released on CD. Here's the next best thing: a 320kbps vinyl rip
