FA Cup Final memoirs

Post by Ace »

Decent game for two teams not usually associated with Wembley, BUT.........

Crap atmosphere with close ups of fans sitting looking glum with minimum flag waving, whereas games of yesteryear had hoardes of flags and banners fluttering away the whole duration of the match.
Cheesey American style tannoy system blaring out crap songs ala chav wedding disco, it used to be Queens' 'We Are The Champions', and that was sufficient, but Jeff Becks' 'Hi Ho, Silver Lining'...........? Bollocks!!
Shitty fireworks that made it seem like fucking Disney World instead of the hallowed Wembley!!
Well done Harry for not saying 'You stupid fucking cunt!!!' when Kanu missed a sitter, and instead resorted to open mouthed dispair.
We're going more and more the American way of sporting finals, and its so wrong!!

The West London of my youth is now on dvd

Hey Ace

This touches on summat i have felt for a few years now. Now I am not a football fan at all. But is it me or is the FA cup a bit of a non event these days?

It seems like when i was a kid,no matter who happened to make it to the final every one seemed to be watching it or talking about it.

Yesterday it seemed like no one outside Pompey or Cardiff really gave a toss!!

Or is this just me?

Offensive weapons now. Try taking one and it'll be confiscated, its possible you'll be refused entry, and if the cops are a bit short on numbers, you'll get nicked on 'lets boost our piss poor figures' charge.
We have need of you again, great king.

No BB, its the general concensous as there's very little intrest in it unless one of the elite top six teams make it...........very little money to be made, hence poor build up etc, now you see any of the English teams in the Champions League final, which has been the case for a few years now, the build up is non-stop and coupled with great coverage, makes it a winner!
Football purists will lament the way football has gone nowadays, its a business now, not the sport it used to be

I believe the majority of those tacky flags were free and given to fans on the way in, there were hundreds left lying around afterwards. You are probably right, they didn't look silky, but a tatty paper type of flag.
Poor...really naff

Fully agree with your original post Ace. Something's got to be done to get the real atmosphere back at football matches. We should start by getting rid of all the fucking 'DJ's' at grounds and stop playing the crappy predictable cliched music the all paly, in between their inane ramblings. Hang the fuckers. Clubs have got to realise that the real atmosphere comes from the fans.

Highlights have to be Katherine Jenkins and Top Milf Lesley Garrett's heaving diddies ... then the match began unfortunately.

PEOPLE think Stephen Hawking is so clever, but when you ask him a question and he is typing in the answer on his little screen, how do we know he isn't just looking up the answer on the Internet?

Too true Crofter...couldn't take my eyes off Ms Garrett's magnificent puppies...thought they were going to run onto the pitch at one stage.

With all-seater stadia, and more female fans, you're never gonna get back the testosterone-fueled crowds of yesteryear.
