Becket ....snout in trough

Post by mrmcfister »

Margaret Beckett, the former foreign secretary, claimed ?1,920 for a new pergola and plants for her Derby constituency home. Commons finance staff thought this was excessive and disallowed ?600 for plants from the bill. She was on Newsnight today (yesterday) ostensibly to talk about how great Brown was..the interviewer asked her as a final question...;Is it right to claim for a pergola'..she was flummoxed and spluttered how she had not come on to answer questions about that....priceless...hope someone puts it up on youtube!..and she really has got a face made for a paper bag..

Classic.

She made the request and was rightly fucked off.

Interesting though that your chosen subject wasn't someone like Green Dave I can't afford a mortgage Cameron or Ming Campbell who spent more on food than Prescott.

I think the point that McFister is making is that Labour luvvies are supremely smug; rampantly self-righteous sorts who would have you believe that their sole purpose on earth is to give succor to the poor and comfort to the dispossessed. Of course this is not the case, they are morally no better than anyone else and are driven by similar motives - namely to improve their own financial lot and their personal prestige (it?s worth noting that they rarely give their own money to the poor). Sadly, their hubris and conceit precludes them from conceding this to both themselves and the world in general.

This is why people make a point of highlighting the all to common greed, rampant self-interest and sheer spitefulness of so called progressives and socialists ? it?s the jaw dropping hypocrisy and arrogance of these unpleasant people.

People who live in glass houses shouldn?t throw stones ? or fiddle their expenses.

Well said Sir. You have summed up the socialist credo exactly.
"Look out for yourself and make sure you pull the ladder up after you"

That's why they will never apologise for sending our education system back to the dark ages with 'comprehensive' education. It's easier to keep the prols in their place when they remain uneducated.

I think you've got their number, johnsix. You've got 'em rumbled, old son. Yes, the snotty fuckers are shit hot at pulling the ladder up after themselves. Almost all of them are public or grammar school educated, but the despicable twats want your kids (but not theirs, mind) to go to 'bog standard comps' where their lessons will be disrupted by brainless chavs, pikeys and 'gangstas'. Mind you, disrupted lessons would be the least of your kid?s worries where knife wielding 'gangstas' are concerned.

This government has wasted millions (maybe billions) on education. With kids leaving school unable to read it seems the only thing all that money has bought are some lairy exam certificates that aren?t worth the paper they are written on! If they hadn't pissed all that money away on bureaucracy, diversity initiatives, and public sector pensions maybe we could be enjoying relatively cheap petrol today?

I reckon they've been taking the Mick.

The number of cases I've seen like this in Australia makes my skin crawl
Its not just one side of Politics its who ever is in power

talking about rorts

In 1996, Victorian MPs agreed in a bipartisan decision that they should be entitled to taxpayer-funded cars and have the option of customising them. According to media reports, 98 of the 132 MPs have since spent $220,000 of your money tarting up their Ford Fairmonts. Labor MP Doug Walpole really lashed out and fitted his car with a sunroof, body-styling kit, alloy wheels and sports suspension - total cost $7,800.

Beggars disbelief...full story & umpteen more serious examples here

I get the impressiothat many MPs think their actualy making a sacrifice by going into Public service because their private sector friends are making squillions

Barbara Follett

Post by johnsix »

Barbara Follett who has a combined wealth of ?14Mn with her novelist husband, Claimed ?60.00 from the taxpayer for an automated watering system for house plants in one of her five homes.
She also claimed ?1.600 for window cleaning.
I suppose she thinks we should be grateful she is redistributing OUR wealth as opposed to her own.
