If anything, democracy is possibly the worst form of political system as it allows the ignorant and stupid the same say as the educated and informed.

Difficult to find a meritocracy that would not be open to corruption.

As W. S. Churchill once said (and it's not often I agree with the old ego monster), democracy is the worst form of government, apart from all the others.

Depends on the so-called education and what is termed as informed.

There are plenty of clever people on paper in terms of having qualifications who are thick as bricks in the real world and there are lots of people with no qualifications who are a damn sight more intelligent than some of the educated.

There are lots of so-called informed people who don't know their arse from their elbow.

Interesting idea, Bob. But alas, not a new one. All these 20th century chaps held similar sentiments.

I gave up on voting after the General Election in 1992 and have never seen a reason to start voting again. Only two things would get me to vote - they would be referendums to leave the EU and to break up the UK, both of which I would vote yes for. Apart from that politics is corrupt and full of incompetents and slime-bags who line their own pockets. Which party is in power in the UK makes no difference, behind the scenes everything is run by the same bunch of ex public school Hooray Henries.
