Chelsea manager imminent
Chelsea manager imminent
Bruce Buck was spotted at Heathrow today (Friday).
He refused to divulge his destination but apparently told reporters that the next Chelsea manager would be known within 7 days.

But then according to The Times the only man Chelsea really want is Scolari.
I'm not sure how that can happen during the coming week.

I see some newpapers today claim that Steve Clarke has been asked to continue as assistant manager.
(Contrary to many earlier reports that he would be leaving).

Re: Chelsea manager imminent
Maybe the imminent manager has consulted a certain Jose Mourinho for a reference on Clarkey.
I wonder who that could be?

Steve Clarke will stay as he's the last survivor of the 'Gullit Revolution Years'. This would keep the fans happy. Although, personally, I think he should have walked when Jose left to show solidarity. I would have

Regarding Clarke, I believe that the board as a whole felt it was he who really held things together after Mourinho went, not Grant or ten Cate, hence asking him to stay on. That's not to say he won't leave if a managerial job comes along, and I, and I'm sure all other Chelsea fans, would wish him the very best.
As for who will be the new boss at the Bridge, depending on which paper you read, it's either Scolari or Ancelotti, with Rijkaard as back up if they can't get their preferred man.

According to the Daily Mail it's all done and dusted.
Scolari has been appointed as Chelsea manager but it won't be officially announced until after the Euros.

The story coming out of Geneva today is that Scolari will NOT renew his Portugal contract after Euro 2008, so it does look like he's all set for Stamford Bridge. If so, let's hope he can convince Carvalho to stay... Chelsea's defence always looked shaky when he wasn't around.
