Pikey comment

Post by Ace »

ha! Good old Grand Prix commentator Martin Brundle interviewing Bernie 'short arse' Ecclestone regarding the state of the aged Gilles Villeneuve track in Montreal and saying a 'gang of pikeys were tarmacing the surface at turn 10' almost as funny as Lewis shunting into a car at the pit lane.
A bit of light humoured banter that went over mosts' heads, that is until Ofcom are assessing it as it borders on racial predjudice after it recieved 7 complaints.........SEVEN from a TV audience of 4.5m...........come on lads, a bit OTT don't you think?

Ofcom are just a bunch of cunts, so what they think is a bit irrelevant to the average viewer, who probably hates pikeys anyway - who in their right mind wouldn't?

I watched the interview, and to be honest, the comment passed me by and didn't register until the media picked it up the next day. Thats what pikeys do.....tarmac drives.........amongst other things

I think they must have been YTS Pikeys then ... seems strange that Old Bernie keeps threatening to take away the British Grand Prix unless improvements are made but still seems to have been caught with his pants down (just like his buddy Max Mosley) on the state of this joint.
PEOPLE think Stephen Hawking is so clever, but when you ask him a question and he is typing in the answer on his little screen, how do we know he isn't just looking up the answer on the Internet?

It all depends on how offensive the term Pikey is considered these days, doesn't it? He'd never have said, or got away with saying, 'looks like something you bought at the local Paki shop'

Not attacking or defending it, but these days, if someone wants to be offended (eg. by Ali the drug dog) then is an auto-guilty verdict.
We have need of you again, great king.

Personally, I think it's no different to 'nigger'. Brundle was out of line.

'Nigger' is only a corruption of 'negro' (spanish) or 'negre' (French) which both mean 'black, derived for m the Latin 'niger''. The derivation of a word is irrelevant; it's how it's come to be used that is relevant.

We all know that 'pikey' is used as an insult and when levelled at travellers is pretty much deemed to mean 'scum'. If it's being targeted at a particular ethnic group, which it is, it is a term of racial abuse.

If someone's a cunt call them a cunt. Abuse the person not the ethnicity has always been my guiding philosophy. I think the Buddha said something similar.

Brundle brings great insight for the viewer of Formula 1.Alas his comments on our itinerent caravanners were ill advised; but highly amusing nonetheless!
