Next season's fixtures

Post by JamesW »

Interesting stuff. In the first 12 matches Man Utd have got Liverpool away, Chelsea away and Arsenal away.

Chelsea play Man Utd, Liverpool and Arsenal by the end of November and all of them at home.

Arsenal's end of season looks interesting: Liverpool, Man Utd and Chelsea in the last 6 matches (at home to Chelsea, away to Liverpool and Man Utd).

And Setanta, they show live Premier matches as well.

I remember one Saturday last season (October I think) where at first they published all 10 matches would be on the Saturday.

Then 2 matches were selected for Sky and one for Setanata so they were moved to Sunday and Monday.

Then it was a weekend after a lot of midweek European matches, so Man U, Liverpool, Everton etc moved their matches to Sunday.

In the end EIGHT matches were moved and only TWO were actually played on the Saturday.

That's the reality of football these days. The guy paying the piper calls the tune. There's more money in the game, more money coming into the clubs. The downside of that is the fans get fleeced: at the gate, fixtures being fucked about for telly, and of course paying Rupe and Satan TV to watch.

The days of it being a traditional Saturday afternoon out are long gone. The accountants took over, and the clubs we are all so slavishly loyal to sold us out without a moment's hesitation.

yes i heard there is restrictions by the premier league or fa or whoever. Daft really. First game is away at Villa then next home to West Ham. Not a bad opening two really. First derby is home at end of November, away at the swamp in May. Should be interesting with Hughes now at the helm.
